Regional Project for South and Central Asia Countering Violent Extremism - Media and Messaging Strategies India, Pakistan, & Sri Lanka Journalists from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka discuss community policing and messaging strategies to counter violent extremism with the St. Pete Police Department's Chief Anthony Holloway and Communications Manager Yolanda Fernandez to open World Partnerships' 2019 professional exchange programming! Kyrgyz Republic Combating Trafficking in Persons Professional resources covering all aspects of the field of human trafficking met with this group of judges during their visit in Tampa Bay. Republic of Korea Women’s Economic Empowerment – Enabling Women to Succeed in Business Women entrepreneurs and their UNESCO project specialist from Korea met with their counterparts in the Tampa Bay region for a dynamic series of roundtable discussions that could lead to some long-term initiatives! So many thanks to the Tampa Bay women entrepreneurs, academics and accelerators from the Tampa Bay Innovation Center, the University of Tampa Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, the Helen Gordon Davis Centre for Women and their League of Extraordinary Women, the Stavros Institute - Enterprise Village and Finance Park, Embarc Collective, and the Tampa Bay Wave for their very generous time and energy for this project! |

Murrow Program for Journalists Multi-Regional Project Research and Investigation Belarus, Bolivia, India, Kyrgyz Republic, Tunisia Journalists from around the world encounted the best of investigative journalism, researching and fact-checking during their rouindtables with The Tampa Bay Times, Alison Steele, Esq., the Poynter Institute, and FloridaPolitics.com, and then shared their experiences as journalists with "Journeys in Journalism" students at John Hopkins Middle School, and with students in the AVID college readiness program. |

Murrow Program for Journalists Multi-Regional Project Media Responsibility in an Age of Disinformation Angola, Botswana, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Suriname, and Tanzania This multi-regional group of journalists brought the news of the world to their interactions with the Tampa Bay Times, WMNF-FM Community Radio, FloridaPolitics.com, former WFLA-TV investigative reporter Mark Douglas, the Poynter Institute, and Nielsen Global Technology and Innovation Center. Special thanks go to Callaloo Restaurant for opening the historic Manhattan Casino dance hall for a meeting (and some jazz song performance by our visitors!), and to St. Petersburg College Center for Public Safety Innovation for hosting the group. |

This special program, developed under the Merida Initiative and carried out through the US State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and Global Ties U.S. in Washington, has trained hundreds of Mexican law enforcement officials in state-of-the-art police techniques over the past four years. World Partnerships was awarded this unique project based on the strength of our longstanding IVLP professional collaborations with the St. Petersburg Police Department and the St. Petersburg College Center for Public Safety Innovation.

Bolivia Combating Disinformation Live from New York! IVLP senior program specialist Dina Suggs conducts a program opening for this group of Bolivian journalists. The journalists also participated in a full-day symposium at the Poynter Institute, and engaged with Nielsen Global Technology and Innovation Center. Thanks to our new partners at the USF St. Petersburg "Open Partnerships Education Network" (OPEN) for hosting the group and lending us their technology for the opening session! |

Sri Lanka The Role of Traditional and Social Media in Elections Taking time out from preparations for Hurricane Dorian, City of St. Petersburg Communications Director Benjamin Kirby talks with the group about the similarities between emergency management and political campaigns, and the impact of social media on campaigns, in a lively exchange of ideas for these Sri Lankan journalists. The IVLP group also had a half-day symposium with the Poynter Institute's International Fact-Checking Network. |
