Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Seminar in Tampa Bay!
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored
by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between
the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The
Fulbright Program has provided more than 360,000 participants—chosen for their
academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach
and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to
shared international concerns. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced
by then-Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The Fulbright Program is
sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural
Affairs. The Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually and
currently operates in over 155 countries worldwide.
World Partnerships was selected to host a Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Seminar, the first ever held in St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area! Fulbright Visiting Scholars from 41 countries visited St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area from November 5 – 9, 2014 as part of a Fulbright Enrichment Seminar, one of four such programs taking place in the United States during the 2014-15 academic year. This Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Seminar, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by World Partnerships, Inc., took place during the inaugural “Blue Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Summit” in St. Petersburg, in collaboration with area academic institutions.
