Egypt and Nigeria
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program enhances leadership among international professionals who collaborate to address local and global challenges and foster change for our collective good. Through academic study and professional development with U.S. counterparts, this growing global network shares best practices and builds expertise in fields of critical importance to advance societal and institutional capacity, promote human rights and freedoms, ensure sustainable environments, and develop thriving communities.
For the 2020 Fellowship, the Institute for International Education selected World Partnerships to host two Distinguished Humphrey Leaderships Program Fellows from Egypt and from Nigeria. The Humphrey Leadership Fellows interacted with Tampa Bay's academic, entrepreneurial and high-technology professional resources to create new global collaboration networks and new technology development methodologies.
From Nigeria, Dr. Amina Magaji (bio below) met hundreds of tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and industry leaders at the Synapse Summit 2020, and she also met with leaders from Embarc Collective, the University of Tampa, Tampa Bay Wave and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus. From Egypt, Dr. Mohamed El Tayeb (bio below) engaged with senior officials of the University of South Florida, the USF Morsani School of Medicine, the USF Bishop Center for Ethics, USF Sarasota Manatee campus, the USF Connect Tampa Bay Technology Incubator, and USF World.

Nigeria
Dr. Amina Magaji National Coordinator, Office of ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship National Information Technology Development Agency Dr. Amina Sambo-Magaji is the National Coordinator for the Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Nigeria. She has her first class degree in Computer Science from a Nigerian University. She did both her master and Phd at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen in information Engineering and Artificial Intelligence respectively. In her current role, she has positioned the office as an agile facilitator for the technology ecosystems. She pioneered the Nigeria ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Vision and has attracted several international donor funds for the support of implementing the vision. She represents Nigeria in high level conferences and session on Artificial intelligence and bridging the digital divide. The Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE) is a subsidiary of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). NITDA is an agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy. OIIE is established to drive NITDAs mandate on building a sustainable and thriving ecosystem to foster the growth of innovation and entrepreneurship for job creation and social economic impact. OIIE drives its mandate through policy recommendations, programs and stakeholder engagements. |
Egypt
Dr. Mohamed El Tayeb Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs and Acting Secretary General at International Branch Campuses Affairs Council Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Mohamed El Tayeb is currently Assistant to the Minister for Technical affairs since January 2018, Acting Secretary General of International Branch Campuses Affairs Council. He holds a PhD in Dental Sciences from Ain Shams University with 12 years of experience in teaching in private universities. He has been working in the domain of education and education management since 2007, starting as an academic advisor in the Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine, Misr International University (MIU), one of the oldest private universities in Egypt, until reaching a top managerial post as an Assistant Director to the Dental Hospital at MIU. He was then promoted as the Director of the Academic Advising Center in the University of Badr. Presently, he is overseeing the implementation of both presidential and cabinet assignments as well as the implementation of the national projects of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In addition, he supervises the application of the Digital Transformation System in Egyptian universities as well as raises the efficiency of universities’ infrastructure to turn them into smart ones. The Ministry of Higher Education is assigned a number of important responsibilities including proposing higher education policy, setting the plans, projects and programs necessary to implement this policy, strengthening the relationship between universities, colleges and higher institutes and the environment to realize the best public service to society, as well as supervising the Egyptian cultural bureaus and centers overseas, and the foreign cultural relations. Dr. Tayeb has worked in the Ministry since January 2018. His primary role is supervising the Technical Office of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and handling challenges. In addition, he oversees the establishment of branches of foreign universities in Egypt, as well as follow-up its functional process. He also oversees the implementation of both presidential and cabinet assignments. |
