Arrival, McDonald’s and Orientation! - Orlando
The group arrived in Orlando on Saturday afternoon, and after brief introductions to the World Partnerships team, got quickly freshened up for their first event – finding a McDonald’s restaurant! For many of the students and staff, this was their first visit to the iconic “Golden Arches”; as it happened, the “World’s Largest McDonald’s” was a short walk from our host hotel on Orlando’s International Drive! And so, the adventure begins!

After a good night’s rest, the group gathered on Sunday for a 2-hour mission orientation briefing by World Partnerships staff. Students and Al Nayzak staff enthusiastically asked questions related to all aspects of the mission and WP staff gave an animated overview of the mission components, but also context about the history, environment and geography of central Florida from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. The remainder of this “jet lag” rest day was spent exploring International Drive attractions, malls and restaurants.
