This group is so geographically diverse that we had to do two programs in one morning/evening to capture all the participants! We expect over 70 photojournalists for the in-person project, and we hope they are bringing their cameras! For the entire year of this project, photojournalists from around the world have been creating indelible images of their towns, countries and regions as each struggled with the societal, economic and human effects of the pandemic. This program will examine the role of photojournalism in civil discourse, public opinion, and public understanding of how COVID-19 has disrupted society, as well as how it has brought people and organizations together. Hidden No More -
Empowering Women Leaders in STEM Multi-Regional Program Inspired by screenings of the award-winning film Hidden Figures at more than 120 U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide, this special initiative program began in 2017 to highlight and develop the important contributions of women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). “Hidden No More” brings to the United States 50 women from around the world who have excelled in STEM careers such as spacecraft engineering, data solutions and data privacy, and STEM-related education. World Partnerships first hosted this distinguished program in 2019 (see photos at right). This project examines women’s contributions to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through research and development, education and teaching, leadership, and public policy formation. Participants will explore best practices in the effective recruitment, training, and development of women and other underrepresented groups in STEM and learn how they can institutionalize opportunities for women in their own countries. This project supports the Department’s strategic goal of enhancing economic growth through the contributions of women. The project focuses on the advances of women’s employment in STEM fields and addresses how they are mentoring the next generation. |
